Find out about the Oakleigh Cricket Club, where we play and train & the people who support us.

Established in 1879, Oakleigh Cricket Club is the premier sporting club within the City of Monash, setting the benchmark for youth development, community engagement and a professionalism that continues to yield outstanding results.

Boasting some of the best synthetic and turf facilities in the region, Oakleigh Cricket Club prides itself on providing a holistic cricket pathway for girls & boys – from Woolworths Cricket Blast (5-10yo) through to Senior Cricket. 

Run entirely by volunteers, Oakleigh Cricket Club aims to provide a fun and engaging environment that develops all cricketers and help them realise their potential.

Where We Play & Train

D.W. Nicoll Reserve

D.W. Nicoll Reserve (Warrawee Park) is home to the Oakleigh Cricket Club.

This is our main oval, and is used by the 1st XI & 2nd XI on Saturday, the U15 & U17s on Sunday morning & the 5th XI on Sunday afternoon. This is also our primary venue for Senior training.

W.A Scammell Reserve

W.A Scammell Reserve Oakleigh Cricket Club's second oval and is used by our 3rd XI & 4th XI on a Saturday afternoon.

Caloola Reserve

Caloola Reserve is home to Oakleigh's Junior teams. However, Junior training is split across both Caloola and D.W. Nicholl Reserve depending on capacity.

Matthew Grace
Senior Club Coach

Matt is an accomplished all-rounder with a strong background in Premier Cricket and club cricket leadership.

He has spent the past four seasons as club coach at Oakleigh, managing the success of all XI's with numerous club premierships.

Matt brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and enthusiasm to the club, with a proven record of contributing both as a player and leader.

Brendan Grace
1st XI Captain

Brendan is a highly accomplished all-rounder and proven leader, bringing extensive Premier Cricket experience to Oakleigh Cricket Club.

He joined Oakleigh after spending ten seasons at Fitzroy-Doncaster, where he reached First XI level and developed a strong reputation as a reliable and high-quality performer. During his time at the club, Brendan also captained the Second XI, demonstrating strong leadership and tactical awareness.​

James Benn
2nd XI Captain & Assistant Coach

James is the heart and soul of what it means to be an 'Oak". He's a well-rounded and deeply committed contributor, he goes above and beyond in every possible way to ensure the club continues to thrive, both on and off the field. A fantastic top-order batsman, James brings composure, class, and reliability to the crease, consistently setting the tone for the innings. His understanding of the game, combined with a natural ability to lead, makes him a trusted figure within the playing group.

Tom Ison
3rd XI Captain

Tom truly lives and breathes Oakleigh Cricket Club. From progressing through the junior ranks to playing senior cricket, coaching premiership-winning junior teams, and serving as a committee member, his leadership commitment to the club runs deep. A genuine match-winner with the ball, Tom is a high-class top-order bowler renowned for his ability to take key wickets on game day. He also offers valuable contributions with the bat, adding depth and balance to the side.

Ryan Chapple
4th XI Captain

Ryan is a lifelong member whose connection to the club runs as deep as it gets. Ryan has grown into one of the club’s most respected figures and consistent performers. He is renowned for his ability to control an innings, score runs under pressure, and set the standard at the top of the order. Beyond his on-field performance, he is a natural leader and a pillar of the club’s culture. His commitment and loyalty extend far beyond match day, making him a driving force for the club.

Assistant Coach

Ben brings an extensive knowledge base to Oakleigh Cricket Club, backed by a high skill level as a top and middle-order batsman. His ability to read the game, build innings, and deliver when it matters makes him a valuable asset to the playing group. A natural-born leader, Ben leads with a selfless attitude and a team-first mindset, consistently putting the needs of the group ahead of his own. His leadership, composure, and cricketing intelligence make him a respected figure both on and off the field.
