VALE RON PRICE

The Oakleigh Cricket Club is saddened to receive the news that Life Member, Ron Price, passed away last weekend.

The club extends its deepest sympathies to the extended Price family.

Ron’s sad passing has made many of us reflect on the incredible contribution that Ron and his family have made to our club.

Ron of course was a First XI Premiership player, Second XI Captain, Junior Coach, Committee member, and was awarded Life Membership in 1975.

His beloved wife Jean supported Ron throughout his career, and her massive contribution to the club was recognised when she too, received the club’s highest honour, Life Membership in 1980.

Ron and Jean’s 4 children all played for the club and made significant contributions.

Mark was a star First XI player for many years, and a great contributor off the field as well. Mark also was awarded Life Membership for his outstanding club service in 1988.

Neil was a long-term junior and senior player, who also was a key club figure during his playing days. Cheryl and Colleen were part of our inaugural Women’s Cricket teams, and were great supporters of the club for many years.

Finally, Neil and Gayle’s son Matt, continued the Price family legacy. Matt was a First and Second XI Premiership player. Ron, Neil and Gayle took great joy from watching Matt’s cricket career at Oakleigh CC.

The funeral for Ron Price will be held at 10:00am on Friday July 19 at Tobin Brothers 294 Burwood Rd, East Burwood.
